STATEMENT OF FAITH

Word of Life Church and Tom Brown Ministries

In addition to accepting the Apostles' Creed and the Nicene Creed we have our own statement of faith that should be helpful to understand what we believe:

We believe that the Bible is the infallible Word of God.

God is one, yet is revealed in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God is good and never causes tragedy.

Satan is the author of the evil in the world, but believers can resist the devil and he will flee from them.

Jesus is God's only Son and was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, taught the truth, performed miracles, died for our sins, rose from the dead, and is seated at God's right hand.

The Holy Spirit was sent to comfort, lead and empower believers. He still manifests Himself through the gifts of the Spirit.

Salvation is provided for all through the Substitutionary sacrifice of Christ on the cross, yet only those who repent of their sins and accept Christ as the Lord of their lives may be saved.

After salvation, the believer should be baptized in water by immersion in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Those who are born again may receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues.

The sacrament of marriage is reserved only for a man and woman.

Physical and emotional healing are provided in the atonement and may be appropriated through the laying on of hands, prayer, claiming the promises, etc.

Every believer who lives in obedience to the Lord—through giving, faith, diligence—may expect God to prosper them in every way, including materially.

It is the privilege and duty of every Christian to share the gospel with everyone.

We should be an example to the world by living holy and separate from sin.

Jesus will come back personally and visibly, and the whole world will stand before Him on Judgment Day to be punished or rewarded—punished eternally in the lake of fire or rewarded eternally with God in the new heavens and new earth.
