Our Helper
by Sonia Brown

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. (Rom 8:26)
Tom and I were in Dallas, Texas for the ICFM minister’s Conference in
October of 2002. We had the most memorable time. It was really inspiring as
well as fun. All of the speakers were anointed and we made some long lasting
friends. At the end of the conference we had a 50’s bash. Talk about crazy.
It was wild and crazy and truly hilarious to see the ministers singing
Karaoke. What a wonderful event that was.
There was a setback though. During the Conference we were given a lunch
break so we decided to hit the mall. No, that was fabulous! I absolutely,
positively, love to shop. I said I love to shop but Tom hates it. So we
compromised and went to a Christian Bookstore in the mall.
While we were there I heard a scream. A horrified scream. An elderly lady
was yelling, "Help, Help."
I thought that there was a restaurant next door to the Bookstore and
maybe someone was choking. For sure someone would help this dear lady.
Again I heard the scream. "Help, please someone Help!"
At this I dropped the book I was reading and called for my husband Tom to
come quickly. We both ran outside the bookstore into the hall of the mall
and there we saw a elderly lady crying and screaming. Her husband was lying
on the floor with blood coming out of his ears and nose. His face was
purple.
A crowd began to gather and a nurse came to the scene.
Tom and I immediately started to pray. We asked the elderly lady if it
was all right to lay hands on her husband. She said yes. They had a daughter
and grandson who were there with them. They were overjoyed to think that God
sent some Christians there way.
So we prayed. Tom knelt down next to the injured gentlemen and rebuked
the spirit of death. He immediately woke up and was trying to get up. There
were others who were helping that restrained him and told him to take it
easy.
At this time the paramedics, and ambulance came to assist.
We knew He was going to be alright.
The Lord taught me something through this situation. You see that all
this dear old lady had to do was yell help and in one instant a nurse, a
minister, the paramedics, and an ambulance came to the rescue.
You are a child of the living King. You have been bought by the precious
blood of Jesus. Whenever you are in trouble just yell help and Heaven and
Earth will come to the rescue. I can see the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost
with the angles of God come to deliver you. Isn’t that good? God is ready
and able to deliver you from all your troubles.
