The kiss
Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth—for
your love is more delightful than wine.—
Song of Solomon 1:2
A kiss is very special. It is giving to those we love. We can demonstrate our
kisses in many various ways. For instance, you wouldn’t kiss your dog the same
way you would kiss your spouse. There are sweet kisses and then there are
delightful-than-wine kisses.
When my daughter Faith was three years old she wanted to be
like her mommy. When someone asked her what she wanted to be when she grew
up she would say, "A mommy."
Faith is our only little girl. She is loved and knows it. She also
knows that she’s daddy’s girl. My husband often kisses and sings to
her. One of his favorites songs to her is "You are so
beautiful". She is a joy to our life.
One day Faith casually came up to her daddy and asked him for a kiss.
He complied. He gave her a small kiss on her cheek.
Faith said, "No daddy, give me a kiss like you give mommy."
My husband said, "What kind of kiss do I give mommy?"
She replied, "A wet one!"
You see Faith noticed mommy and daddy kissing. She also noticed that
when daddy sometimes gave mommy a kiss I would say, "Give me a wet
one."
My husband told Faith, "No, those are reserved for mommy."
Faith understood that day that a kiss is expressed in many ways. She
realized that she wouldn’t be getting kisses like mommy until she was a
mommy.
Have you demonstrated your affection to the love of your life? Give him
or her a kiss, and show them how much you love them.
