I am Fearfully and Wonderfully Made
by Sonia Brown

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.—Ps 139:14

Have you ever wondered what it means to be blessed? I know I have. In the Amplified version of the Bible blessed means: happy, fortunate, and to be envied. What a great place to be in. It’s a place that many search for but few find. The secret to happiness is learning to accept yourself. So many people do not like themselves.

The other day I was cleaning my youngest son, Caleb’s room. As I was straightening up his desk I noticed a piece of paper with his writing. So I began to read it. This is what he wrote:

"My full name is Caleb Thomas Brown. I am 8 years old. My birthday is April 10. The color of my hair is blond. The color of my eyes is brown. My favorite sport is football. I enjoy being with my family and friends most. I like my attitude. I am the happiest person I know."

I began to laugh out loud. I said to myself, "I believe he’s got it." You see, Caleb found contentment in himself. He is grateful for how God made him and has a great deal of love for his family and friends. So much that he writes, "I enjoy being with them most."

Caleb delights in the fact that God made him special. He is unique and there is no one like him. The same is true of you. You are special. When God made you, He threw away the mold, so there would be no copycats.

If you are looking for happiness be like Caleb. Be grateful for who you are and how God made you. God doesn’t make mistakes. You are perfectly and wonderfully made.

Next is being content with all that God has given you. Look for the bright side in things and know that God keeps giving and giving. In the movie, It's a wonderful life, the angel, Clarence, said to George Bailey, "Nobody is a failure who has friends." Thank God for your family and friends.

And then remember to love those around you. There is no greater satisfaction than when we do things for others. You will be happy and full of joy as you delight in doing these things.
